Tuesday Trading Calories

Tuesday, April 30, 2013

In preparing for the 5% challenge, I decided to look up a few high calorie foods that can be replaced with lower calorie foods. There really can be a big difference.

For Instance:

Sweet Tooth Trading: 1 Haagen-Dazs Chocolate-covered ice cream bar is 290 calories.
2 Haagen-Dazs sorbet bar and six small figs is also 290 calories.

Hot Dog trading: 1 chicken frank is 120 calories; 3 veggie hot dogs equals 120 calories.

Snacking: one half cup of cashews is 440; 4 baked potatoes with salsa is 440 calories.
2 2/3 oz of potato chips is 400 calories; 10 cups of popcorn is 400 calories

Switching White Food: 1 Cup of white rice is 220 calories; 10 cups of cauliflower seasoned with herbs and grated Parmesan cheese is 220 calories.//5 dinner rolls (6 1/2 oz) is 530 calories; 13 slices of light oatmeal bread is 530 calories.

And, because I like Chinese: 1 egg roll is 400 calories; 1 small serving of spareribs is 400 calories OR one bowl of Chinese veggie soup + 4 oz of shrimp + 1 1/2 C of broccoli + 2 TB of hoisin sauce + 2/3 c of brown rice + 1 fortune cookie EQUALS 400 calories. What a difference!

Hoping to make trading calories part of my strategy for the challenge!
