One year ago, I quit my job and went to work for a new company. The pay was better, plus I could work from home for the most part with a little travel (what a joke but I will get there in a moment). For 4 months I was home for the most part with 2 trips to Washington, D.C. What a fun time I had swimming in my pool, seeing and playing with my grandchildren. I even lost a few pounds.
So, 8 months ago that all changed. My boss called and said we have a new project for you. It is in Michigan (not somewhere exciting like Hawaii). He said I would have to be onsite most of the time, like through the winter, I am thinking snowed in with no way home. Now, I am thinking this just did not sound like anything I wanted, but I gotta work. I knew nobody in Michigan. I got here and everybody on the project that was traveling was male. That's when I knew this just wasn't going to be fun.
So, for 8 months I have traveled to Detroit just about every week. I am now gold plus status with the airline and hotel. TSA agents know me by name as well as flight attendants. I never got snowed in, even though sometimes I wanted to be.
Every night Monday through Thursday I have eaten out. I ate
, you get the picture, I ate and ate and ate. The weight went up, up, up!
Now, I am no dummy, I knew what was going on and that something had to change. In the 8 months I had made friends with a few of the women from the client I was working with
. So, we decided to lose a few pounds together.
. Now I am back to the weight on SparkPeople. These women are wonderful and encouraging. I look forward to seeing them on Mondays. But one person has become an inspiration to me TRYN2BFITMAMA. She was the first person to reach out and speak to me. Each day she will spend a few moments just talking to me. We share about our families. She gets me up out of my chair for walks
. Because of her I reached my fitbit goal for today. She has made Michigan feel a less lonely.
Thanks TRYN2BFITMAMA! You are an awesome friend!
