Husband has more time

Tuesday, April 30, 2013

Good news, My husband's pulmonolgoist says he may have a couple of years.
We have to avoid crowds, get and stay healthy and take all his meds. This is great news.
He sleeps most of the time because his lung capacity is only at 22% or less. Everything makes him tired.
He is now on steroids which should help him gain weight and give him an appitite. He weighted in at 105 today.
Grateful for each day we have together.

The doctors have been burying me since 1987, but I am still here. I was ready to give it up in 2007, but God had different plans for me. I also have COPD and the chemo and radiation damaged the mitral valve in my heart. Too many 911 calls and the doctors did not seem to know what to do for me. I had made my peace and then the phone rang. One of my former clients called and asked "Are you alright?" I told her what was happening, she asked my address and said she would be right there. She is a nurse and also a massage therapist. She came into my home and started checking for a pulse in my lower extremities and could not detect one. She started working on me and after about 30 minutes, I told her I needed to go to the bathroom. When I came out I laughed rather feebly, she asked what was so funny. I told her now we know what death warmed over looked like. She was not pleased, told me to sit down she was not through working on me. In a few minutes she said "For your information it looks better than that." She went on to say you can not be trusted to live alone and I know you will not listen to me, but I know you will listen to God and she had not been able to do anything that morning until she called me. She put her furnishing in storage and kept me alive until they could fit me in to the Cleveland Clinic. I went up not knowing if they could or would help me. I had an excellent surgeon and they replaced my mitral valve. Six years later, I am back working and did weight training at the gym this afternoon. I was on oxygen 24/7 over six years and now have been off for the last 18 months. My pulmonologist does not know what to think about me. I will be 73 in October and I was talking to a lady at the gym works out quite a bit, found out she will be 92 this year. You just never know, what God has in store for you. I hope he finds some relief with his breathing and he continues to get stronger. My prayers will go out for both of you, be sure and take care of your self. Keep the faith.

Sounds like a bit of an improvement. Hopefully the meds will help him get stronger. Enjoy your time together!
