Note to self: the next time I’m on a streak of so many weeks without junk food I can’t even remember…stay away from it!! Last week was an off week and now I’m trying to recover. While I haven’t been working out more than 2X a week prior to last week, I had been able to stay away from anything bad for me…notice “had been”.
Maybe it was all the extra workout days I put in last week that threw me off-kilter. But, more than likely, it was my lack of self-control and a need to calm my thoughts that have run amok. I worked out 5 days last week, which earned me into the 500 fitness minutes club! I haven’t done that in several months. But that will change.
I would pack my lunch with healthy goodies but I couldn’t stay away from the store…chips and sweets were added to my days, ugh. This week I have been able to control myself and I am not the type to dwell or be all “I’ve failed”…nope, I’m moving on and doing my healthy thing like last week never even happened. I’m getting my sweat on and saying NO to junk!
I’m on week 2 of a 12 week ST program by James Wilson. It starts out 4 days a week and somewhere through the middle maybe, it goes to 5 days a week. Never any more, yay! I did Jamie Eason’s Livefit last year and it was also a 12 week program but I got the flu on week 10 and couldn’t get my mojo back. Both emphasize clean eating but James’ doesn’t appear to take so much of my time. I’ll fill ya in when I’m done with the whole thing.
I did the Foamfest a couple of weeks ago and it snapped me into reality that I was out of shape, at least not in enough shape for the Spartan Sprint. I’ve got three more weeks to increase my endurance and strength…and working out 5 days a week should do it. The goal is to be able to do all obstacles, otherwise it's a penalty 30 burpees!! And no, these obstacles aren't all easy. The one I'm most concerned about...climbing that knotted rope & ringing the bell at the top...
So, my goals for May:
Track food (have REALLY fallen off that wagon)
Exercise 5 days a week for at least 30 minutes
Eat more veggies
Thanks for reading my blog! Have an awesome week!
