Wow! This past year has been a whirlwind experience and, truth be told, my weight loss journey took a back seat. As frustrating as it is to say, honestly is the best policy so here it goes: I am right back where I started. That is, weight wise, at least. I mean, I fell in love, moved cross country and got a little pudgy again. Nothing unfixable. At least I know I STARTED to do it before ;P
I will call today day 2. I'm just trying to focus on what I learned during part one of this saga. A few of those things being:
1) It's simple math. If you want to lose weight than something's gotta give - you've gotta take in less than you did before. No need to get the chalkboard out, it really is a simple equation. 2) Track EVERYTHING. You'd be surprised what you scarf down while your brains not looking!
3) Move 6 days a week. If I say to myself - Welp, I totally don't wanna work out today! - OK, then walk down the street, get moving in some way that doesn't feel like working out if it's needed that day. Shopping, walking the beach, or cleaning the house is wayy better than sitting on the couch stuffing my face.
4) Alcohol counts. Drinks in general - soda, coffee, etc. If I want it, I'm gonna have to hit the gym hard that day to work in the extra calories. If it's not worth it then cut it out (Guess I'm switching back to Iced Tea from my first love, Dunkies coffee with as much cream and sugar that can fit). Why haven't they invented the zero calorie Merlot yet, anyways? I mean, seriously, it IS the future!
5) Diet and physical fitness need to live together in perfect harmony. Doing one or the other just doesn't work, at least not for me. Running 8 miles is no excuse to eat a pound of pasta when you get in from you workout!
So there it is, my fabulous five. No need to over think it - just the simple stuff.
