Looks Like an ATM - But Coming Soon its the Sparky AINT Station

Monday, April 29, 2013

A business epiphany struck me on the way home from another non-tracking day on the road. It's too good not to share with everyone, as my Sparky clout might be large enough to make it actually happen.

Here it is:

1. Imagine Sparky licensing its trademark to healthy restaurants meeting basic standards for menu content and willing to fork over handsome royalties for the Spark-compliant food it sells.

2. Imagine little Spark logos next to certain menu items on the pre-printed menus.

3. Imagine a free-standing touch-screen kiosk near the exit, that is tethered to this web site via the net and allows you to access your nutrition tracker to log in what you ate. I call it the AINT Station - if you missed my blog, AINT is my acronym for All-Important Nutrition Tracker.

4. Imagine that you could provide the waiter or waitress your Spark ID name, and they could log in your food for you, when they enter the order information anyway. They seem to all use touch screens nowadays.

5. Imagine the notoriety for Spark. Imagine the advertising bonanza for a restaurant to become certified. Imagine the actual dollars that is worth to everyone concerned.

Now imagine that some of those dollars head my way, for it is my idea. What do you think?

I'm loving the idea! How about touch-screen kiosk on each table like the old dinner jukeboxes?

Your wit is evident as ever, but it seems os unlike you to propose anything with a Big-Brotherness aspect. You'll have to forge ahead with no royalties from my participation.

This is among the kinds of things that bent Weight Watchers into the scam they have become, IMHO.

/I like the touch screen nutrition tracker. I'm not fond of "AIN'T" - sorry. I've spent too many years in parts of the country where the average person barely gets out of high school. (According to the National Center for Education Statistics, the average adult reading level in the US is betwee n 8th and 9th grade... so imagine what it is like in poor areas!)

Many people who go to the kind of restaurants that have touch screens won't find AINT humorous because they use it as part of their daily language (sigh)... As an ordinary negative word, it won't have a lot of appeal... it will be another way of telling them what they can't do, can't eat, can't have... "I ain't gonna be having no bacon sandwich today because I ain't be fittin' too well in my Levis." I'm not even trying to be funny. I hear talk like this every day.

Otherwise... good idea. And of course I love your graphics and your characteristic Boss spunk, without which Spark would be less Sparkified.

Frankly I like the idea. Worth pitching woo to the spark techies (aka gods) as it was suggested!

I it brought in revenue that would stop the incessant ads, I'd be all for it! And I might add, some of the ads are really offensive!

Hugs for having a creative brain to come up with ideas like this one!

This is a totally brilliant idea -- you need to provide the link for your blog to the Spark techies to give it a whirl There could be some spinoffs for buying fruits/veggies at the supermarket too . . . info in the produce department re nutrition, links to recipes, "SparkPoints" when you purchase 'em.

If SparkPeople were making some revenues in this way -- do you support there could be maybe fewer ads on the site itself??

Posted a link to your blog on SparkGuy page and also on message board for Site/Technical help!

I think you will have a hard time finding restaurants that would meet SP criteria. Now extend it to grocery stores that sell locally grown organic food and you might find a few places to bring into the fold.

Sounds great, but isn't it a little like the SP app for your phone?
