My weekend started out cool, and is ending cool too. My boss took me out Friday night for our 4 year anniversary celebration. Nothing too crazy, I had two beers, half a sandwich and a salad. Not too bad. We had a really good time. There was live music outside, and the weather was perfect for good conversation under the stars, with great food and great music. After work on Saturday, I drove out to Winter's to spend the day with my Mom, and we went to a local festival they had going on at the central park in town. I found some handmade glass jewelry that I really liked and I picked myself and my mother up a few pieces. They were really well done, and very reasonably priced. On Sunday I was supposed to do a number of things, but I ended up spending a rather interesting day with my neighbor that I met recently. This was our first "girl date". So there was a lot of getting to know you chit chat. We ended up back in Winters, seeing sides of it I'd never seen before. We went on a walk down by the creek, that I seem to do now everytime I'm in town. It was warm, and I wanted to swim, but I didn't manage to get a dip in, maybe next time. We were hot and thirtsy after our walk, so we went to a new pub in town and split a sandwich and beet salad. It was good. As we talked we found more and more we had in common. It was almost like talking to an old friend. After the pub we went to a wine tasting room, something I've never done before. And after about 6 different tasting sips, I chose a really nice herbal "Malbec". It is all grown locally in Winters, and although I never pay $20 for a bottle of wine, I was in such a great mood, I rather enjoyed supporting the local business, and think I may go back again sometime. My neighbor is part of their wine club and gets bottles every month. I'm not really that into it that much, but a bottle here and there of good wine could be nice. After the winery we ended up at a new brewery in town. I had another glass of beer, that was a bit too strong for me, and I only drank about half. The atmosphere, and live, local music was the hit of this place. It was really a great place to hange out, nice outdoor location, simple food, great music. I think I may take in the local music festival this summer, since that band will be there, and I'd love to see them again. They call their genre "Western garage and country noir", whatever it was, they were rocking out and I'd really love to hear/see them again.
Well that was one long paragraph! So, Fri, Sat, and Sun were great. My neighbor and I ended up at her place, where I got to look at all of her art from around the world. She's lived in Russia, France and Ethiopia and has art from those places and others. She is also a painter and photographer, and a Christain! A LIBERAL Christain! Yeah, I know, weird. I haven't met a liberal Christain yet, which is what I am, so it was a really great day, spent sharing and comparing and just having a great time. I really loved it. I couldn't sleep I was so excited with all that we'd done and shared over the day. Finally at 4 am I passed out, and slept until 2pm today! In about an hour Tim comes home for the night. So, that will be a great end to a great weekend. Haven't had a weekend quite this good in awhile. I needed it.
So, even though life can be hard, (as I detailed from my experiences in my last blog) it can also be wonderfully, unexpectedly beautiful. I really enjoyed myself and plan on many more local adventures as the spring turns to summer and I get to know my interesting, unique new friend. We have plans to kayak Cache Creek in a few weeks, I've wanted to do that since I moved here. I'm really excited because she has the kayak already, and it seems like it could be a lot of fun.
Hope your weekend was great. Cheers to the sparked life!
