Hi everyone. My name is Amy and I'm 21 years old and decided that right now is time to change my life!

I actually just stumbled upon this site via google when I was looking for nutrition and fitness information. Wasn't looking to sign up to anything but looking through this site I thought it'd be a good way to get support from people going through the same as me, without paying and going to weekly classes. I think I'll definitely need the support for the first few weeks/months.

I am a carb/sugar addict. I love rice, I could have it with every meal, basmati rice mostly! I've tried brown rices/pastas but I'm not a fan personally. However, I have cut down on some carbs, I've cut way down on my pasta consumption and have basically stopped eating noodles and bread. Sugar, I'm not just as addicted to like I am with carbs, but still have too much. It's fizzy drinks that are my downfall and sometimes feeling like I need something sweet after my main meals. I've tried giving up fizzy drinks but I always crawl back to them and feel icky and bloated after drinking them again.

So right now, I'm not 100% sure of my weight, everytime I move the scales they change haha. Basically they're showing me at being between 217 and 224 pounds. I'm 5'6", my bmi is around 36 I think, so I am overweight. I am currently a UK dress size 18-20. It's time for this to change and for once I'm not just saying it. I'm trying hard to change my way of thinking, to reprogram my brain into being healthier. As a child we didn't have a lot of money and my mum never had a lot of time and so I had a lot of processed food cause it was cheaper and quicker to make, so I was never really fed with health or nutrition in mind. Now though, I don't really eat processed foods and I love to cook everything from scratch as much as I can.

I think I'm gonna try, really hard!, to give up carbs/sugar, I'll try it for a week, then continue for 2 weeks and then continue that for a month, and if I don't have any carbs/sugar throughout the month of May then it'd be absolutely amazing. I have bought gym equipment for home, a rowing machine, multi gym, exercise bike, cross trainer, punch bag, dumbbells, exercise ball, ect, as well as already having games for the Wii that I'll use to help get me fit again. I've had to buy these as I used to go to the gym however I never kept it up as the effort and thought of going there with lots of strangers put me off, I did love using the machines though and I know that if I have them in my home I can use them while simply watching the tv! I was paying 40 a month for a gym membership and going 3 times a week, I paid around 500 for all the home gym stuff that I can use every day, even for just half an hour a day! Then I plan to go back to a boxercise class I used to go to an loved however I was too unfit for it and always felt super sick during it.

My goal is to lose 84 pounds. I don't have a specific date by as it's about doing it healthily not quickly.

Anyway, I've gone on long enough I think lol. I look forward to talking to everyone and supporting others progress where I can and get tips from others :)
