not happy with the scale today

so the weekend came and went today at work i got on the scale and wow a 5lb increase. I just dont get it. I did not eat the wrong foods this weekend I didnt over eat . I felt i was fairly active i did some gardening, we was out and about taking picture and took the kids to the park. I ate salad but the scale says otherwise. I have to say i am tired of that scale and dieting. when will this feel like a lifestyle and not a forever diet. I had food on my mind all the time before surgery and now after just different reasons. always watching what i eat and the amount. oh well i keep telling myself who knows tomorrow the scale may be a little nicer

    Has the scale been any better since you wrote this blog? I can really appreciate what you are saying, as I have the same feelings a lot. I wish food was not an issue - I would love to be able to not think about it, not have to plan ahead, just make healthy choices as I go and be naturally thin - to me, that is a lifestyle. I know that is not my path to walk at this point, though. Unfortunately, I will always have to be thinking about food - not obsessing with it, but planning ahead and yes, restricting certain foods and portions, which is usually not easy. It seems like 99% of this battle is in the mind, and there is no band that helps with that.

    I know how you feel my scale hasn't moved all week but more likely it's water retention for working outside I get that way to sometimes when I work outside more standing on your feet than at other times does it for me.

    In my experience, salt/fluid changes throws my weight off pretty easily.

    Try not to be too focused on the scale. Easier said than done I know. But a lifestyle change should be more than just a number. If your feeling good, and being more active, playing with the kids, that's what's important. Our weight can fluctuate daily, so maybe try weighing in once a week/month. emoticon emoticon

    If you have a battery operated scale, you may need to change the batteries. This has happened to me.
