jury duty = I am confused!

Monday, April 29, 2013

Just how many times does a person go to jury duty after receiving just the 1 letter. I have now had to call many times to see if I was needed and I have been there 4 times. I was picked once but dumped when they did there last pick, but I still have to call and I still have to go to new cases. Others that went to the same cases that I did served and fulfilled those cases but they have to continue to go to the new cases too. I am just trying to figure out is there a month or 2 in a row limit? 3 month limit? Or a case total limit? No one tells you and I am so confused. I am not complaining because I really don't mind going but how many times is enough?

Wow, that is crazy. I received my letter and it stated you had to call in the evenings and if your group was called, then you would show up the next day. If you weren't chosen to sit on a jury, then you would receive a document, stating that you served your "one" day service. You didn't have call in the rest of the week.

Wow. I always thought that if you had to go in, you only had to go that one day. I guess I was wrong. I didn't know that if you served on a case that they would make you continue to keep going in to serve more. I think that's wrong. There has to be a short limit they make you go in, cause let's face it. People have to work. There must be a number you can call in order to find out. Good luck in finding the end to this.

That's really weird. I've only had jury duty once in my life and here's how it worked for me:

- I got the letter saying I had jury duty on June 15 and that I needed to report to the courthouse

- I arrived at the courthouse really early on June 15 and was assigned a group

- We sat in the waiting room until we were called for a case

- My group was called in for a case

- The lawyers selected the jury

- I wasn't selected and went back to the waiting room

- After about an hour, they said there were no more cases and everyone that wasn't selected could go home

That was it. My jury duty obligation was fulfilled.
