weekend adventures

Monday, April 29, 2013

It was a busy weekend for us. Saturday was the Mariposa Air Fair. It was a nice day but the event itself was very poorly executed. Several listed activities didn’t happen. The PA system didn’t work well. Did see several folks from PML there.

Sunday Greg and I met at Dori’s Tea Cottage and waited for my bay area buddies to show up. We were there at 9 and no riders showed up until close to 10:30. So we had a relaxing visit while waiting. It was interesting watching all the vehicles going by. I’m not sure who got the better show – us or them. We must’ve looked fairly interesting in our cycling gear, sitting on the sidewalk drinking tea.

We finally got started on the bike ride about 11. Some parts of the route were a little bit too warm but as we climbed in elevation, it got cooler. Stopped just before the entrance to Yosemite for lunch and a nice break. Enjoyed speaking with Bob Dean – he’s looking better than last time I saw him and he’s back on the bike some too. Met several folks for the first time. Finally, Greg and I headed back home while the others went on into the Park. I finally arrived back at the house around 6pm. Since Greg rode his bike to town in the morning, he dropped off and I had to ride back for my car by myself. It wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. I guess all the energy supplements paid off.

I am tired today. Got up four times last night to pee. That’s the down side of trying to stay hydrated. Today is a rest day for sure! I went to Weight Watchers and had gained a wee bit. After yesterday, I could hardly believe it but it may be water weight still in my system.

While I was riding, Dan was flying. He ended up in Turlock, then Watsonville, then Monterey Bay Academy. They stopped by Calfee and saw the weird 'copter they are building. Also looked at the bamboo bikes.
