juice fast day 4

Monday, April 29, 2013

Feeling good again. Back in the swing of things.

My husband surprised me. Today is his third day of the fast and after so much complaining yesterday, I didn't think he would do today. I even made him an alternate lunch thinking there was no way he would do another day of juicing. He chose to finish up juicing. So I put some juice in his thermos and sent him off. I think he just wants sympathy from the guys at work, but if that is what spurs him on to continue.. then OK by me. Tomorrow he agrees to go just fresh veggies/lean protein for a while. I suppose you would call it more paleo. He has terrible GI problems so I want to start him on some probiotics.

So I had better be getting out to plant some more. I am going to have to grow a bunch of veggies this year.

I picked up some perennials on sale and want to get them in although they are saying snow again. I can't believe the weather this year. Winter just won't leave. The wildlife this year is more abundant though. I even have some pheasants back in my orchard. I can't believe with my dogs that they would chance it. Our neighbors decided to put in alfalfa across the road this year, so perhaps they decided to move. We don't cut the grass in the orchard, and I have quite a few decorative type of grasses there, so it would be a good habitat for them. I will have to think about fencing in the area. It would keep the dogs and deer out. I will have to do something with the berries. Do pheasants bother berries???? I will have to check it out.

My daughter who I have said is growing up too much wants to go tad-poling again this year. I thought she would have out grown that, but glad she hasn't. I will have to wash out the terrarium. We will go to the creek this afternoon. The bullfrogs have been making a racket the last week, so the tadpoles should be more than ready. I have a lot of frogs in my garden from previous years of raising and releasing them. I also salvaged a couple of broken pots that will make good homes for them. While over to the creek/pond we will have to check for mushrooms. It has been such a strange spring, they may still be available. I should pick up some spawn and reseed around there although there are a lot of deer there. Do deer eat mushrooms? Something I also have to check out.

Well, I had better stop writing and actually do this or there will be no garden.
stay strong

I will give Lon your congrats Ven. I'm really proud of him. Of course, I would have liked it if he hadn't moaned about it as much when he was doing it, but hey, he didn't want to make it seem as if he wasn't suffering for his wife, right? LOL.

You changed your name Ven, do you take frequent trips? or is it a metaphor for something deeper? Perhaps your life path and enjoying the view ( i.e. experiences) along the way?

We don't live in the burbs. We are ag. We have a couple of neighbors now, but we would have to scream real loud to get their attention. We could probably get by with being nudist and get away with it, if that was our thing and there wasn't so many cockle-burrs. LOL

    SimCyn,
Give my congrats to hubby for doing a 3 day detox! He should do really good on paleo - if he has GI problems eliminating the refined carbs, wheat and over processed foods should alleviate his issues.

Describing tad pole fishing, mushroom picking , deer and pheasants makes me reminisce of living in the burbs. I just miss those things, I don't miss not having neighbors close to me LOL. I moved back into the city 11 year ago and I live on the 15th floor of a condo with a terrace that has an eastern view so I get to see gorgeous sun rises. I have tried to plant on my terrace and so far only basil and mint grow. Peppers and tomatoes were a bust :(

Can't wait to hear how many tadpoles you catch!
