Great Weekend

Monday, April 29, 2013

I had such a fun visit with friends and family this weekend.

We drove down to IL Thursday EARLY morning after having driven to my parents' house Wednesday night. Thursday I had lunch with my sister, grandpa and parents and saw my grandpas DVD of his skydive this past January. I might note that he is 94 years old!

In the afternoon, my mom and I met up with my niece and her 2 kids. We met at a park and our kids just played and played while we caught up with one another. It can be a sensitive situation since she doesn't speak to her mom (my sister), but it was a really good visit. Thursday night I went out with an old childhood friend and had such a blast. We ate at this DELICIOUS Italian place, but I did decline dessert.

Friday my sis, mom and I went garage sale-ing and got some fantastic deals! I met up with my another childhood friend who I mentioned in an earlier blog for lunch and got to catch up with her and that also went great. Then it was off to the family reunion in central IL for the rest of the weekend.

The whole weekend I just felt loads of thankfulness for having such a neat family. We had a surprise 60th birthday party for my mom's cousin on Saturday as well as some fun in the woods. Sunday the kids and I had to leave early to get the 2 oldest kids back for their piano recital where DH met us with his parents. The travel was smooth and the kids both did an excellent job.

As soon as we got home from the recital some friends of ours invited us to meet at the local indoor pool. We were EXHAUSTED but the kids really wanted to go, so we went and had LOTS of fun there for about an hour before leaving and picking up supper on the way home. The whole weekend was a bit of a whirlwind weekend, but I loved it all.

WOW!!! Sounds like an EXHAUSTING weekend, but one where the exhaustion was worth it! Glad you had fun!
Hugs,
Shan
