An Honest Look

It has been seven months since I've had my amazing baby girl, Hannah. So 9 months of being pregnant (and limiting activities a lot due to a high risk pregnancy) and 7 months of honestly just watching the baby grow equals 16 months of not doing squat about my weight. I admit at 173 ish I weigh less than I did when I was at that scary 203 mark - but I feel less healthy than ever. I feel as if my body has forgotten to move.

It is time to take charge and change that.

My goal now is to be healthy by 40. I will be 39 this May, and 40 next May. I want to be able to walk, run and play with Hannah. I want to be able to RUN up the stairs without a second thought. I want to be able to take care of my family without feeling stiff, winded and miserable all the time.

My approach is that I need to start logging all my food with sparkpeople again, and I need to get up off the couch and start exercising again now that it is spring. Just because Hannah is playing in the living room does not mean I have to be a couch potato. I'm starting with 20 minutes a day of exercise and I hope to work myself up to a good hour of exercise a day. Everyday that I get up and get moving is a day closer to my goal of being more fit. I would like to see myself at my healthiest weight and lifestyle by the time I hit 40. I want my 40s to be amazing!

    Baby on a blanket on the floor, uses every muscle of her body trying to creep, crawl, walk. Takes a lot to get in shape like that. A mom could try a half hour a day, doing everything baby did...watching even fingers and toes....and then start jogging in place 2 mins when baby is asleep and gradually work up to an hour. It worked for me with 5 kids......and I'd gained 75-77 lbs with each pregnancy and lost it within a year after....

    That's great timing, in mho. I figure you'll be on a great track and she'll see a great example of a mom.

    I am aiming for the same thing! I will be 38 in May and I have a 14 month old son. I really want my 40's to be amazing! Wishing you luck! It is hard, but so worth it!
