I read a quote this morning - "It is easy to dodge our responsibilities, but we cannot dodge the consequences of dodging our responsibilities."
I thought how much that applies to fitness. It's easy to skip "just one day" of exercise but that soon becomes several days in a row. Once I've made that first choice to "dodge", the consequences are set in motion and consequences are inevitable. It's easy to think "just one cookie won't matter", but even if it were just one cookie (which it never is) there are consequences.
But the opposite is also true. I'm not going to be thin and fit from just one healthy choice. But that one choice has benefits. It can lead to other healthy choices. Each desert passed up, each bag of chips or nuts not eaten is that many calories and fat my body doesn't have to process. Even 10 or 15 minutes of physical activity has benefits.
And the benefits of good choices are just as inevitable as the consequences of bad choices!
