Moving Right Along...

Sunday, April 28, 2013

This is a GREAT DAY, but shouldn't they ALL BE! Absolutely! Friday, April 26th, I was given the all clear to start "doing things!" And this gal is sooooo ready!

I have to tell you about "our conversation" during that appointment! I KNOW, I got the vein surgery done, to close the "valve" so blood would not keep pumping and causing discomfort.
As far as THAT JOB, it was COMPLETED! At least three veins/valves in each leg where corrected.

The "next phase" per the doctor and nurse is to continue with additional "sessions," to make the varicose veins APPEAR SMALLER, fading the color, etc. BUT I feel, THIS is COSMETIC, not a medical necessity, and ironically INSURANCE WILL COVER THIS!?!?!?!?! Go figure, what they will or will not cover! Me, I am NOT SO SURE about getting it done. I will put this on hold, until I FEEL I NEED IT!

Barbie Doll, I am NOT! Do I care if my veins show? Maybe, but not enough to go through all the VERY TIGHT COMPRESSION STOCKINGS, NO EXERCISE, NO DRIVES, NO TRIPS, NOT this GAL! I want to get back to all the FUN things! Walking outside, planting flowers like I did today, swimming, Zumba classes, senior aerobic classes, and so much more. Enough said, I am going to DO, DO, DO, all the things again! Since I ABSOLUTELY feel confident, and have a great understanding with my Doctor, I will be calling her and make the final decision, but I am pretty sure, it will be put on hold. And IF, I decide, I want to complete the "next phase".....well, I will take that step, ONE DAY AT AT TIME!

Now, off to take a WALK! See you all soon...on the threads, at the pool, dancing in the streets! WooHoo, I am sooooo ready! Yup, I am moving right along!

Glad you're back on track. I had to take a 4 month break from exercise when I had surgery to remove the skin on my stomach and repair an old scar (called a piniculectomy (sp?) That much time off about drove me crazy and I know taking a large amount of time off makes it hard to keep the pounds from creeping up. Just keep an eye on the veins and go in as needed!

Way to go Fran! I agree with you - you are in the driver's seat when it comes to your well-being. You have passed your recovery with flying colors so get out there and enjoy doing the things you love to do! The important thing is that you are feeling better and the main problem has been corrected!

Great blog! You go girl!
