I woke up this morning from a sleep marathon! We had a wonderful time camping, but shortly after getting home yesterday morning I started getting a migraine headache. I think it was set off by all the junk food I ate the night before (my body isn’t accustomed to it anymore). I took my migraine med and went to bed for a “nap” but the nap turned into much more. I slept all day and night! At least this morning my headache is gone and I feel completely rested.
As for our night of camping, we had a great time. We went with Tommy’s son Derek, his wife Sonya, and their kids, Landon and Lindsay. We went to Pilot Mountain and set up our tents. I had a large Eureka tent that I bought when my boys were little. We’ve spent many fun nights camping in it with my kids in the southwest and in North Carolina. Now that my boys are grown, Tommy and I have downsized to a smaller tent and I gave my large tent to Derek and Sonya so that they can enjoy it with their children. It’s hard to believe it’s over 20 years old and still in good shape.
My tent that I hope will be enjoyed by our grandkids as much as I enjoyed it with my kids. All set up and ready for bedtime!
Not bedtime yet, but Landon had to get in and check out the tent. He was so excited about it.
After setting up camp we drove to the top of the mountain and took a short hike to look at the pinnacle.
It was a beautiful day!

We later fixed dinner consisting of hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans and chips. Not exactly on the heart healthy menu, but everyone enjoyed it. As the temperatures cooled, we built a campfire and told stories. We made smores for the kids, but of course the adult “kids” had some also. Later Sonya made Jiffy Pop over the campfire. Landon and Lindsay had never seen it before and was really excited watching it pop.

I liked this picture. The smoke from the campfire makes it look foggy.
We had a great time and hope we can go again soon. Now I have to start packing for our vacation next week. Tommy and I will be flying to New Mexico on the 6th for ten days of camping and hiking with my sister and we are so excited.
I hope you all had a great weekend. Keep working toward your goals!
