Half Marathon Results

Sunday, April 28, 2013

I improved my time from last year, but did not meet my goal time. I guess I'll have to try again next year.

The weather was awesome. It was sunny and springlike. Something we had not experienced in MN. The MN Pacers were there and I stayed with the 11:27 one for the first 6 miles. I had to stop for a potty break and I lost the group.

I learned a lot running along side some one that knows how to pace and quickly discovered that I cannot pace myself on my own.

What was my time you ask? 2:36:04 That is 5 minutes faster than my last year's time. I am happy with my results even though I feel I could have ran a bit better the last 6 miles. However, since my legs are sore this morning, I know I really put forth a good effort.

Now, I am going to focus on speed and try to get a PB for the 5k. My granddaughter (11 years old) has a goal of a 29 minute 5k and I am hoping to come in on her shirttail. emoticon

Sounds fantastic - both your result and you 5k goal. Your granddaughter is lucky to have you for inspiration (and vice versa). emoticon

Great run! I think it's awesome you even ran a half-marathon--it's something I have on my 'to-do' list, but am kind of afraid of the distance. Maybe I don't need to be? Thanks for the report--you're encouraging!
