Wow! What a day! And it's not over yet!

Saturday, April 27, 2013

Wow! Just got home and can't quite believe it. My students had their Academic Superbowl today. I coach Social Studies (though I also teach SS -- in Spanish) and it was a classic middle school ride. First we had one of our youngest players quit. No explanation. Then he changed schools (that broke my heart). Then another girl, one of the strongest players, had to go away the weekend of our big meet! Oh no!!

I know challenges come up to make us stronger. I know the other students have become better friends and a more tight knit group. But me?? All I've wanted to do is eat -- not eat as much as STUFF myself. I've resisted A LOT but sometimes cave on popcorn (light) and chocolate cheerios (not light).
.
Now the meet is over. We WON SECOND PLACE!! (well, they did, coaches don't do anything except for maintain order and clean up afterwards). I am SO grateful to God, my husband, and family but most especially to my students! It was really crazy that my kids just rose to the occasion. Now, as for my own cravings, I sure hope that falls back into place (or stops forever). I'm going to keep tabs and let you know.

I definitely feel lighter now. No not physically, but emotionally, like I'm free somehow. I'm tired, of course (one doesn't sleep before such events if one is a professional worrier) but my mood is light. I think I'll be doing some weekend errands now (we're celebrating my son-in-law's birthday, so this day is finished yet!). I'm going to make some coffee first.

It's been real nice talking to you here today. Hope to do this again soon. In the meantime, "ten mucho cuidado" means "take good care"!! All the best!
sincerely,
Riisa emoticon

As a muddle school teacher of students with special needs, I can appreciate the chaos you are going through. Peace and have a lovely rest of your weekend. Rest tomorrow in the afterglow of a job well done. You are a HERO in my eyes - all those who give up a bit of their time with family and friends to be there for their kids deserve a BIG vote of gratitude for their dedication and kindness to our NEXT generation.

How nice for you that a very stressful event is finally past. I am sure your students feel the same way. And how proud you must feel of them.

Now that this is past, good sleep will be a real luxury tonight! I bet your urges to indulge in comfort food will ease too.

Hang in there and hang tough! You can do this. You sure hung in there for the kids and you can do it for yourself!

It looks as though all turned out well & I feel certain that you will continue to do well with your food choices.

Hang in there!

God bless!
