Home again... april 27th

We had such an awesome time in hawaii... walked miles every day while I was away... wasn't to concerned about my eating... we had a nice basement suite in a home in maui so hit cosco on our way from the airport. Ate mostly chicken and some sausage with salad.. we ate out 4 times and just had burgers and fries...

We did the pearl harbour, circle tour of the island... the polynesian cultural center... both awesome tours... really amazing as a matter of fact... the circle tour we stopped at pearl harbour, sunset beach, the dole pineapple plantation... had a dole whip which was just made with pineapple and ice... it was so good... stopped at many other places... got lots of history of the islands. The tour guides were just amazing...

In maui we did the Haleakala volcano. One day at sunset and then 2 days later at sunrise... totally awesome... the sunrise was something else... both awesome... but the sunrise with the lighting was amazing... the night sky before it got light was so awesome... never seen a night sky with so many stars like we did that morning.

We did the beach walk that takes you through all the high resorts on that end of the island... beautiful walk... beautiful flowers and foilage... palm tress waving in the breeze on the beaches... coconut palms as well... seen how the bananas and pineapples grow... the fresh fruit was so good.... we did a luah on both islands... amazing meal...

This will be in my memories for a long time to come... was an awesome way to spend my 60th birthday... my dd took me out for my birthday meal.. bought me a cupcake and sang happy birthday... it was such a wonderful trip... together we took over 2000 pictures... going to take me some time to even post them on facebook... they turned out so amazing for the most part.

someone told me before i left that once I went I would be hooked and they are so right... want to go again next year in the fall... my dd also is hooked... was a 6 hour flight to get there... but so worth it.

We body surfed the waves and used boogie boards... she had to help me up when I got knocked over on the beach by the powerful waves... the water was such a pretty colour and so warm compared to our pacific ocean on this side.

by the time we were on our way home I was in so much pain in my knees and hip from all the exercising that i was walking like an old women... lol.. but ohhh so worth it... am so glad that I had the opportunity to go at this time.

i am back and ready for the next challange... my weight stayed the same... so didn't gain and didn't lose... could have lost if I had been more careful with my eating... but didn't want to worry about it... we just ate when we got hungry.

We also did a whale watching cruise the last day we were in maui... Now that was awesome... seeing the whales breach (jumping) and slapping the water with thier dorsal fins... was quite a few of them out there and seen a couple of dophins as well... I know I have used the word awesome so many times in this post but there is no other way to describe it...

God's creation so so awesome and so amazing... was so thankful to be able to go and experience such beauty and the awesome power of what He has created.

So glad you enjoyed this vacation in paradise. I'm with you . . . I've been there twice with our Best Man and Woman (1989 and 1992) and the memories are truly unforgettable! Loved reading some of the exciting things you did.

Just thinking about it, I sometimes cringe with fear when I hear about the sunrise bicyclers who see Haleakala only to bike down the volcano after enjoying the sights (we enjoyed the drive both ways!). You covered a lot of territory . . . I think it took us two one-week vacations to work in all those great sights! Great planning. Welcome Home. Hug, hug -- Evelyn
