Long week

Saturday, April 27, 2013

It has been a long week. I've been more or less successful in staying at least close to my calorie goal and got a bit of exercise most days, but I didn't do great. I couldn't log at my moms and I don't think the scales will show any good change this week.

My Mom's surgery went well. She coming home from the hospital and will stay with my brother for a while. I'm thankful it went as well as it did.

I'm on the road today and tomorrow. I travel quite a bit for my ministry work. I've been trying to cut back as my mom needs me more and more and my home community saw so little of me these last few years. I've been lucky if I got to worship with my own church once a month! I have discerned that I will not accept another term in at least several positions I hold. All terms end after our annual sessions in July, but for now there is still traveling. When I visit a church (this one is across the state) they provide hospitality at a member's home and then the visit usually includes a potluck or two with the gathered community. I find it hard to eat right and even harder to get exercise. I try to choose healthy options at potlucks and fill my plate with lots of salad if there is any. But you just never know what is going to be offered and I'm a guest. Folks are welcoming and generous.

Don't down yourself for not "doing great." Actually, eating so close to calorie range and exercising most days sound AWESOME considering all the stress you've been under lately. You did that. You chose health for yourself despite hard circumstances.

I'm glad to hear your mom's surgery went well. And that you have a sibling to help out in her aftercare.
You sound like you feel guilty for having to step back from church ministry for awhile. I hope you don't let it bother you. For us, there is a great ministry in caring for our family as the pillars of the church. Not many people are equipped so well for such a great ministry.
Wishing you good health and peace.
