Permission Granted

Saturday, April 27, 2013

It is easy to say I will do this but all too easy to let things get in the way. So I have decided it is time to give myself permission to do what I need to do. That may sound silly but it does make sense. I am always thinking of others especially the family and putting their needs first, nothing wrong with that but it means I end up putting my needs on the back burner.
If I am not healthy I cannot help others so it makes sense to balance my needs and the families.
To balance things out it means I need to give myself permission to do what I need in order to be healthier.

Permission Granted

I give myself permission:

To Exercise every day. This can be early morning, or during the day. Exercise means raising my heart rate. Chair exercise and dance do both so I will do these.

To eat a Healthy Diet. This means eating what I know is right for me even if that means preparing something just for me like a salad when DH doesn't want any.

To eat the Portion Size that is right for me. It is easy to have larger portions when serving up a meal or to add extra when being told that doesn't look much. Sticking to what I know is right will bring the results I desire.

To put myself first. By putting myself first I will be able to help the family more as I will be healthier.

To succeed in what I am doing for myself. It is easy to allow other things to get in the way and to allow these things to stop me from succeeding.

This list is now in my journal and will be a reminder of what I want to do for me.

I like your idea of a list in your journal. I used to have a list of things to do that didn't involve eating and motivations for losing weight. I should get back to lists like this. emoticon

It's all too easy to fall into the trap of being "a good person" by doing for others, and neglecting our primary duty to take care of ourselves, to be the healthiest, happiest, strongest, most fulfilled, best person we can be. No one else can do it for us.

Or as Dr. Seuss says, "Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than you." So let's be the best We we can be!

Blessed Be, Amanda emoticon

What a wonderful gift to give yourself. It will be one of the most difficult things you can do for yourself and yet by far the most rewarding. You will be rewarding yourself work well done and the rest of us who love you a healthier happier you. Keep up the good work Paula! emoticon

Sounds easy, but can be so difficult, since you have to talk yourself into it every day! Good for you! emoticon emoticon

It is important to take this step and well done for doing it.
If life starts to take over just take a step back, refocus on what is actually necessary and then move forward.
After all, you will have Granny duties soon and you need to be on top form for those!
