Ok so once a week we have "junk food night". Usually this is a Saturday night on the way home from competition. Today not only did I say no to MacDonald's but I actually walked in, ordered and paid for my son's meal and then walked straight back out. I didn't crave the coffee kick frappes that is usually my downfall. I just decided that if I was going to have "junk food" then it had to be relatively healthy junk food. so I had a lamb souvlaki. My treat was a fun size mars bar. After spending most of last night in a fever from the throat infection and not eating enough yesterday because it hurt to swallow, I wasn't too worried about going over my calories. When we went to the comp, I made sure I'd packed an apple and a pear and some cous cous for lunch just so I wouldn't be tempted by the smell of greasy cooked foods. While is was easy today because the weather was nice, I think it will get harder as the cold weather sets in. On my list of things to buy : a good thermos to put soup into. This winter I am going to make sure that I have homemade soup on hand at these events. I'm going to make and stockpile pumpkin soup, tomato soup and pea and ham. I'm over vegetable soup. I think I might have to browse the recipes on here and see what other sorts of soups are out there.
