Oh, the little things! I'm over the moon because I figured out one of the little bags from Dollar Tree that I have been keeping pc cords in and can loop thru your belt will hold all the things I normally keep in my pockets. A week or so ago, I had to vow to quit carrying things in my pockets because with my weight loss, it always feels like I'm sitting on a bucket of rocks. So I have been wearing a belly bag which sorta has a way of cramping any style you might hope to possess. No. It's not a fanny pack. I wear it nowhere near my fanny, thank you. The guys on Peggy's unit are always asking me to whip out some Six Flags tickets and give them change. Yeah. Pretty Eighties. But I will still prolly use it for concerts cuz it can hold my camcorder with everything else.
So, yeah. The little things can keep you going. I finally got one of our girls to take me up on a challenge and start a gratitude journal. She has such radical moods that you can pull her out of her crying fit and get her focused on good things and when a new staff comes in, she has to tell them her problem and ends up sobbing again. So I told her about my four hundred plus list and she numbered to four hundred amd has gotten past two sixty in a day. Our one return girl hasn't had ANY problems in the week she has been back ( other than precautions six hours after return) so it is my mission to give that young lady more praise than she can handle. Just wish these kids would quit saying "I'm not going to give you a commitment not to hurt myself / not to hurt someone else / not to run away because Ii don't want to go to school tommorow." That ends up with "may attemd school but all meals and other programming on the unit" orders so they don't get their way but more staff have to work twelve or sixteen hour shifts because they tried.
Another REALLY cool little thing was finally pulling out my old box full of probably every piece of makeup I have ever bought and got tired of before it ran out. I had put them all together years ago thinking that would get me to update (for lack of a better word) and switch out once in awhile but the box is just too much. So tonite I played. I'm really impressed by the end result but I hope I won't have to wear five shades of foundation, fifteen shades of blush, eight shades of eyeshadow (that I NEVER wear) and thirty five layers of lipstick to get the same effect tomorrow! Instead, I am moving all the lipstick to a different container and just pulled one of each of the others to start with. Two birds! I love re-puposing containers. Containers are one of my hoards. Since I REALLY want my hair grown out for the first time in about ten years, I am planning on just wearing it up if it creeps me out until I just can't stand it anymore. It isn't styled right to wear bangs which I would really like to try again but I really want to hold out as long as I can. Because a really good haircut can be so dramatic, I would much rather save it for a reward or the next time I'm mad at one of my endearing family members.
Speaking of...I have one more week of my tanning membership so I usually go as soon as I get up so I can shower as soon as I get back. As soon as I got into the room on Friday, Ron called asking who I was trying to impress. Apparently, he had taken off half the day but was shocked when I told him it would take me thirty minites to get home. I was so proud cuz now we could by the trim supplies for the den so all we would have to do this weekend is the work. He takes ALL day when we have to pick up supplies and I now have to work next Saturday so we REALLY need to finish now. We have been talking about this trim forever but, like always, he says we can't get it until we figure out the specifics that he has been tellimg me for weeks as if they were writtem in stone. Wishy washy. Ok. I have a perfect second option. Give him the Home Depot card that even has his name on it instead of mine and let him get what he decides while I'm at work. Nothing doing. Arrg.
May is gonna be a BOOGER for coverage at work. We have people quitting, having babies, taking vacation,.and going to Alaska. We have to have two RNs at all times except graveyard shift yet we have about three weekends with only one RN working from seven am to eleven thirty pm until someone signs up to cover it. Not a huge problem. People will definitely sign up and probably get off a weekday in exchange. I will be working six, off one, work one, off one, work three. Ick. It's a problem for me because weekends are usually the only time I see Ron anyway and he definitely won't do any wall work without me there to praise him for it. The suckiest thing is on May 31 I have stupid training from 1030 am til noon and then have to work two to ten thirty pm. Bratz. Then tonight, ten minutes before shift change, one of our angelic boys was caught putting wire from a bread tie into an ELECTRIC OUTLET! After that, I found out they hired a new weekend nurse (only six weeks of training before they can actually work) but they didn't even interview for Jared to come back so that's a bummer. He probably wouldn't have had to do training since he has only been gone a couple of months. Oh well.
