After days, weeks and months of temperatures not even getting close to seasonal, all of a sudden it shot through the roof today! -2 C (29F) highs to 17 C (63F)!! It felt good! Lots of people were going without jackets, shorts and sandals making an appearance and tons of bicycles reappearing!
The bunnies had grass to chew on:
I got up this morning and realized the coolness coming in my window was not as harsh as it usually is. I pushed out 40 fast minutes of intervals on the elliptical, not using the right arm, but allowing it to swing back and forth in a natural runner's manner. I saw that this wouldn't bother my elbow like it does if I grip and pull the handle.
This allowed me to do 50 min of one of my favorite kickboxing videos. I can do the full range of motion, but not full force and I still get some very painful moments in certain movements. I am able to use the elbow more, but some things are still out of reach (cutting, lifting, putting on heavy or tight clothing)
I enjoyed my fast walk to the bridge club, and everyone was too hot there, the computerized temperature control couldn't handle the sudden shift of heating to needing cooling. All the doors were thrown open. I had an average game and eagerly raced back home to pack and go to Mom's. I wanted to get out on the trails.
I couldn't believe it. The large grassy area (southern exposure) that was full of snow the last time I saw it was completely bare! I made short work of traversing it to get down to the start of the trail. This is the view from the top. I had to go all the way down the gradually sloping park, around the bend to reach the trail across that road:
I got down to the river's edge, looking across at the last of the snow on the north facing river bank:
The sheltered trails still show lots of snow and reports from dog owners are to stay away from the lower off leash trail as its a quagmire of runoff, poop and pee :P
Close up of North bank:
Alas, the trail was nothing but slush and I don't have waterproof runners:
So I turned around and fast hiked over the grass up hill to home. Enjoyed watching Batman Begins and was ready for a good sleep (hopefully).
Tomorrow my sister and her family are coming in from her farm to pick up some flooring and have lunch with us and hopefully, my brother's family can join us. Going to our favorite place, the Asian Buffet, a bountiful choice of both North American and Asian cuisine freshly prepared and very tasty. You never know what they will feature, but quite often they have a baked fish dish which I will look forward to.
Finally a relaxing weekend with nothing pressing and more care and icing for my elbow and hopefully more healing and progress.
Have a great weekend all, thanks for stopping by!
