Home from the BIG dance

Friday, April 26, 2013

My evening was a lot of fun. All the girls dressed up and looking like princesses in boots and all the boys in boots, hats, jeans, and flannel shirts. The girls dresses were amazing - ranging from one in a long white gown that looked like a wedding dress, to 2 girls in FRILLY camo dresses with pink sashes. My student came dressed to kill in a white western shirt and jeans. He danced with me and then the track coach and also his staff told some of the girls to make sure he had a good time, he danced with whole groups of girls. His smile beamed from ear to ear. His momma would have been proud of him. This ol' momma hen was bursting with pride. He was so polite and considerate and really seemed to have a good time.

I am tired. I swam for a little over an hour - didn't quite make a mile but came close (coulda, woulda, shoulda - BUT stopped to do my water aerobics toning class). I took my time in the pool and arrived just before the dance started. Then, I slipped out just before it ended because frankly it is someone else's turn to clean up - at 63, with no kids younger than most of the parents, I have paid my dues and played the "I'm old" card. LOL I also could have played the I haven't really had dinner yet - thank GOD for Ed - he saved me dinner and when I called he cooked me a lovely light meal.

Now, I am going to play the "I'm old and TIRED card" again and head to bed before I turn into a pumpkin.

Blessings on all of you. May the weekend bring love, surprise blessings, and the loveliest moments of JOY. Mine already has started to bring me some.

How great that the dance was so successful! Sounds like everyone had fun, including you!! I'm with you on the clean up crew (or not, as the case may be). I actually do the same with the nursery at church these days, too. Been there, done that...many, many times over, so someone else's turn for awhile. Hope you've had an awesome Sunday, Nancy. Love, jeannie

What a thrill that you got to dance with Prince Charming!

I need to start playing that 'old and tired' card sometimes...but since I'm only 62, I guess I have to wait a year! emoticon

Your Blogs are always so special to me. I loved reading about the student dance and so glad they all had a good time. . .that would warm your heart. . .You are such a good sport to "hang" in there as I know you were tuckered out and hungry. Your son is such a treasure. . .I only wish one of my sons would occasionally cook for me. But, I'm not as lucky as you and it's still my responsibility to make dinner for us every night. Oh well, they are good sons. My son who is married with a family almost always cooks the dinner for his family. He sure doesn't take after my ex (my sons Father) emoticon ! I hope your weekend is filled with Joyfulness and enough time to rest up and recharge.
