Epilepsy, lack of sleep, and an awesome hubby

Friday, April 26, 2013

I have been a little absent from here for the last couple of days. I had a Very rough day before yesterday, and spent most of yesterday taking it easy and recovering. I'm epileptic, and the day before yesterday I had 3 seizures over the course of the day and ended up in the ER. *sighs*

They ran levels, did a ct scan, and everything was fine. The verdict? The seizures were triggered by lack of sleep (with a newborn, duh!) and the fluctuating hormones. It was, of course, a very scary crappy day. Yesterday I slept 12 hours straight, then get up for about 2 or 3, and went back to bed to nap for another hour or two. Thank heavens for my awesome hubby who kindly picked up the slack with Nathan, as well as his mom who's been helping out.

Today I'm feeling better, still a bit tired, but certainly more functional than yesterday! My neuro added a new med to my daily regime, so hopefully the side effects won't be too bad. One of the side effects of this one is to decrease appetite (Why do they all play games with your appetite!? Makes it REALLY hard to be healthy!) So hopefully I'll be able to get around that without too much trouble!

Beautiful Baby !! I am so sorry to hear this news of seizures ,that must be awful. My nephew has been experiencing seizures the past year , he is seven . It' s not due to epilepsy though. Last month he spent 48 hours in Neurology Dept. at a children hospital in Fl. What they discovered was the left part of his brain is not functioning prperely. Monday he as an MRI and additional test , the Physician's state this can be corrected by Medication, anyway - I do hope you feel better soon and that you and your family get some needed sleep - emoticon Hugs Karen - Thanks for visiting my Garden. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm relieved to hear you're carefully getting back on your feet sis. Sending you lots of Love & Light as always. Kudos to hubby for being there for his family :-)

The trick to the meds is, you know they're going to mess with your appetite one way or another, so the best way to beat it is to just eat as healthy as you can each and every time you eat something. That's the simplest way to do it. Hang in there, I"m praying that as your hormones return to your normal, you'll be able to readjust all the meds back to a more normal level as well. That will help all around.

Love You Sis!! Proud of you for taking care of yourself :-)
