Just more of the same...

Friday, April 26, 2013

A friend and I were commenting today on how thankful we are for having generally boring lives. I just did my normal stuff today. Walked the dog over 11 miles, went for a short run, used the rower, did a couple SP videos, did some light cleaning and read a book. Nothing earth shattering. It works for me though.

I am off to my parents' house for lunch tomorrow. They have fresh kale from the garden, so we will definitely have some of that. Another calm, uneventful day is what I am hoping for.

Yes, some would say boring. A young girl was at the pool, and had recently moved into this retirement community. She asked me, "What do people do here for fun besides play golf?" I said, some come here to the pool." Then she asked, well, what do they DO on Friday nights?" "Well, some play bingo (was going on inside) and some probably go out to dinner or go to a movie. AND some come here to the pool! THEN the impertinent thing said to me, "What are you going to do for fun tomorrow?" I looked straight at her and said, "I'm going to come up here to the pool in the morning, and again at night."

And I realized that the 2nd grader thought life in my retirement community was going to be a bit boring for her. I'm glad I don't think it's boring going to the pool every morning and every evening.

There is a big difference between a boring life (bad) and a dull life (good).

My husband asked how my drive was today to my childhood hometown. I told him it was uneventful. That is actually a good thing. I enjoy having a simple and normal life. I work with kids at school, help my daughter through college when at home, and work on my knitting. I couldn't ask for more.

Just had to look up the kale and egg recipe KARIDIAN1 referred to. I will try it in the morning.

It's a feeling of being in control when you have the time to do the things that matter to you.

Just saw a blog with a bunch of kale recipes on SP. There was a Kale Onion Egg bake that sounded good.
