Starting things over again

Friday, April 26, 2013

It has been a loooong 2 months (in fact a very long fall/winter) but today DH was released by his surgeon who put the pins in his hip. He is now allowed to put his full weight on his leg and walk with a cane for the next 3-4 weeks and then if he feels stable enough, he can go without it. He did not order any additional outpatient therapy but did suggest that he get into the pool and walk in the water and exercise in the pool to help strengthen the leg without putting a lot of stress on it.

It is hard to believe all he has been through since last October when he had his rotator cuff operated on. He has been released by the surgeon who did that surgery - that happened about a week ago. Arm is still not 100% but it is improving and will do better now that it isn't stressed with holding his weight on the walker.

After that, he was hospitalized twice for pneumonia/flu/UTI/kidney stone/and who knows what else was attacking him! He came down with pneumonia for the 3rd time last week and is pretty well over that now.

The final fun was breaking the bone off his heal in Feb and then falling 5 days later and breaking his hip. What a winter! Now hopefully he is on the mend and maybe, just maybe we can get back to some semblance of a "normal" life. His PSA is holding at 0.09 so the radiation he had early this year did what it was supposed to-at least so far.

Through all of this, I have tried to get in my 10,000 steps most days. I am tired and looking forward to some relaxation as he is able to help me more around the house.
Here is to a better spring and summer. And being thankful for all that God has brought us through.

That was a very stressful time for both of you. It is great news that hubby is coming out of it all ... feeling half normal! And YOU -- I cannot believe that you kept up your 10,000 steps a day rule through most of it. You're a remarkable example to us all:) Very impressive.
May you have a restful weekend ... If that's what you want:)

Praise the Lord for healing your DH, for giving YOU the strength you need to do all that you do (all that gardening for the park, plus taking care of DH, plus getting 10K steps in!!) I come along side you in prayer for a better rest of the year. I do praise the Lord for all He's been doing in you during all these messes. emoticon emoticon
