So almost 2 weeks into my low carb adventure, I got far enough into the New Atkins to find that if you're doing this without meat, they recommend starting with more carbs.
30g isn't that much more than 20g when compared to a typical day before this change, but it means I'm not so constrained. My daily average had been about 25 grams, so I'm doing great instead of not-so.
I lost 9 pounds very quickly (the water used in processing and storing carbs) and it's been slow since then. I'm not sure if I'm stalled, or just building back all the muscle that slipped away when I wasn't working out. UPS just delivered a box that has a body composition analyzer in it, so that's my next project.
These are less accurate than scales, and nerd that I am I'm going to be reading up on the sources of variation. I probably won't be able to stop myself from doing some sort of validation of the performance. Even if you don't have a standard "think" to measure, you can learn a lot about how a measurement tool works by studying the variation of repeat measurements. I promise not to do the statistics, but I may produce a chart
