Can you believe it? We're almost out of April and into May! Where has this year gone? Ughhhhh....
So yesterday my son and I did some shopping. We both got new shoes - his were work shoes and mine some generic walking shoes and an insert of plantar fasciitis since that is my foot problem. I haven't worn them yet but they sure felt good when I tried them on last night. It's pouring down rain today so no walks. My foot was hurting so bad last night when we got home. We walked and walked and walked some more. While we were out we looked at exercise bikes and bicycles. We're planning on getting bicycles at some point in time - hopefully this year. This morning I was checking my email and I got an email from BestBuy.com. So I know my son says they have a very limited offering of exercise equipment online. So I decide to check it out. I ended up ordering a recumbent exercise bike and it's supposed to be here Wednesday or Thursday. My son was so excited because he's been wanting one. So there! we'll both benefit from it. I'll find out just how out of shape I am when it gets here! I know it's not like riding a real bike but it's a start. I had an exercise bike years ago and I would ride it for hours on end - I rode it talking on the phone, studying and watching tv. Well, guess what? It's going in the living room so my son can ride it while playing video games and watching Netflix. It'll give me another form of exercise too. It's nothing fancy just a good basic bike and and the three reviews it had were all good, so I figured why not.
So I called about diabetic shoes - two different places. The first one, where I got my last pair, wouldn't give me any information or basically talk to me (new person took over). So the second place I called I found out a few things. Medicare has changed the rules again on diabetic footwear. Just because you're diabetic doesn't mean you qualify any more if you have a prescription. They now have certain conditions you need to have in order to get them. I told the lady my current problem and that doesn't qualify. Seriously? Then she told me that they had an insert that would actually be better than the shoes. So I guess I'll go check them out next time I'm in town. I see the doctor in June so I'll talk to him about it too. At any rate we'll see. I'm still on the look out for a second pair of shoes at any rate since I know what to expect and I seriously don't think these will make it too awful long with all the walking I do and will be doing.
Official weigh in today - I gained 3 pounds. Not surprising at all. These past two weeks have been all out of whack. I had gained six but thankfully I lost three of them. I've reset some of the information so my calorie range is less than it was. Now to just find the foods that will work on keeping me full and satisfied in that range.
I'm hoping and praying that my son finds the back up of my genealogy information that went down when my hard drive crashed on my laptops. All the disks I found had the folder but the folders were empty! Ugh! We've been looking for a cord to his portable hard drive because he misplaced it. I'm hoping the cord I found today is it so we can find out.
I'm thinking of using the rainy day to go through the closet and get rid of some clothes that I have hanging there that don't fit, I don't like or don't really wear to see what I have left. I need to get some springy clothes since I've been wearing sweaters if the weather decides to get warm and stay that way it'll be too hot for them but not hot enough for the heat of summer clothes.
Lastly, I'm going to try and get myself motivated to get my yarn stash ready to start making a traditional granny square afghan. I figure that will be good to keep my hands busy at night. Plus it won't make me sweat working on a big piece because it'll just be small squares.
Okay Sparkers have a fantastic weekend! Hope the weather's fine and you can go outside and play, walk, run, hike or any of the other wonderful things you do out there. I'm looking forward to the rain ending.
Let's move it! Let's get our bodies in action! Let's feed our bodies good healthy foods! Let's love ourselves as we are at each step of our journey. Remember this is your own journey not someone else's. You have to do it for yourself. You can succeed - take one small step at a time. You don't have to give up everything now and go gung ho and work out for three hours a day. You simply have to make small lifestyle changes that will multiple and add up to be changes over the long run. I'm not in a race. I want these changes to stay with me forever because this is a forever type of goal for me - to be healthier. You have to find what works for you. Just because it works for someone else doesn't guarantee you results - everyone's different we have different needs, our bodies are different, we have different problems with our current health. Talk to your healthcare professional about your exercise plans and keep them up to spend. My doctor cracks up when I tell him about my walking. The vet cracks up over my dog walking all that she does. My doctor's rooting me on - he's seen me at my worst and he's now seeing me so much better.
Sending y'all love and hugs
