TOXIC PEOPLE

Friday, April 26, 2013

You donít ever have to feel guilty about removing toxic people from your life. It doesn't matter whether someone is a relative, romantic interest, employer, childhood friend, or a new acquaintance ó you donít have to make room for people who cause you pain or make you feel small. Itís one thing if a person owns up to their behavior and makes an effort to change. But if a person disregards your feelings, ignores your boundaries, and "continues" to treat you in a harmful way, they need to go.

I totally agree but the one person that is hard to avoid is the wife of a child of my husband. Peace in the family and all that. But I don't need to spend anymore time with her than is necessary.

it is hard if its your parent , especially if they are elderly and you are taking care of him.

so then you have to try to carve out some time for yourself to refresh yourself. ReBoot!

Great blog... true... for those toxic people whom we can't totally remove from our lives, we must CHOOSE to limit the time we spend them.

This can be really hard to do especially if the toxic person is a parent. In mine and my husbands case it is all of our parents. It is hard to find a balance with loving them and separating from them. emoticon thank u

No ones fighting against you on this. Its so true. The word friend comes from friendship.....if the ship part develops a great big hole...the whole thing sinks to the bottom of the ocean. So...agree wholeheartedly that if it becomes toxic and no change apparent...move on.

I know an old friend who lives life on the edge. He finds humor in others tradgedies. He often lures others into trouble just to humor himself. Recently I mentioned to him that I was thinking of getting a motorcycle. He's been trying to talk me into riding across country with him...ha!! Like I would fall for that. If I were to wreck he'd likely leave me there to die so he could hav e agood story to tell his fruends

I agree! I learned that lesson the hard way; I gave a "toxic friend" a second chance and it was a big mistake. About 2 years ago, I ended that friendship. It was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I didn't realize til about 6 months after I ended the friendship how bad that person affected my emotional and mental health.

Even if you have married that person!

While the Bible says that God hates divorce, right after that it also says that God hates the man who covers himself with violence.

I agree so much with this.

Don't think that we can change them because a toxic person is very happy right where they are...right in their own poison.
