Planting proceeds at last!

Thursday, April 25, 2013

emoticon April 25th.. the last day for planting peas (under the best conditions) in our little shire, so I soaked them and got them in our garden and the community one as well. emoticon It's a good thing that the snow emoticon melted last Saturday while I was at the Ladies' Retreat in Maine. emoticon I also put the kale and arugula in the cold frame and started some lettuces there. The Brussel Sprouts are in the ground, but covered with plastic.
According to the charts, I can rest until early May, when I put in the radishes and start some chards.
The woods are inviting now for walks. But some paths need a bit of tending after the storms of winter.
Since the shade is back on our garden swing, I planned to have our early dinner of chicken, broccoli, baked potato and carrots/celery with tzatziki and almond butter outside. The black flies aren't yet here. So in the warmth of a sunny afternoon, it would have been perfect. Unfortunately the planting took me longer that I anticipated. However, tomorrow's another day emoticon
Hope you all have a blessed evening/morning - whatever time it is now where you are! emoticon

Your planting peas reminded me of this. I planted just a few peas, they were beautiful. I cultivated them tenderly and when harvest time came, my mouth was watering. I ended up burning them and did not get a one. emoticon Ha!
Who knows I may try it again one day and be more careful to watch them as they cook.

I enjoy your blog dear friend.

Are the woods near your home? They look inviting! Way to go with your planting! Still just doing indoor planting here in Indiana! :)
