Secret to success? Technology!

I'm not new to the weight loss struggle. I've yo-yo'd most of my adult life. However, now that I'm in my 50's I want to be sure that I'm physically able to enjoy my 60's and retirement. I love to travel, explore new places, and ride my horses. I've noticed that during the last year I've been more stiff and sore. I can't have this!

So, I'm exercising. I really don't like exercise and certainly don't like dieting. This time, though, SparkPeople (and a variety of technology solutions) may be the answer. I love technology and by combining technology with exercise/diet I may have found something that helps me to stay focused, motivated and on track.

Fitbit -- great tool and syncs with my iPhone. I can get immediate feedback about my progress.

Polar H7 heart rate monitor -- I wasn't sure I needed one of these, but knowing when I'm in a good exercise zone is wonderful. Again, sync'd to my iPhone this works beautifully. I can enter in the information immediately into SparkPeople for daily/weekly targets.

Bootcamp Videos -- The variety of something new each day keeps me engaged. I use my iPad to watch these so more technology infusion.

SparkPeople -- I wasn't sure I would enjoy this site, but each day I find something new to learn. Food entry is easy (although I do try to verify calories, etc. are correct).

This is only my second week of SparkPeople, but I've lost a pound (finally) and I'm exercising each day.
