Exercise tip- Get a heart rate monitor!

seriously! If you don't have one go and get one!
It has been the biggest motivator when it comes to exercise!
it's easy to get discouraged at the gym because you don't always see an improvement day after day. sometimes it's tempting to just take it easy..
and as I have gotten fitter I have been tempted to continue to work out in the same way (e.g. same time, same difficulty level)
but the thing about the heart rate monitor? there is no cheating!!!
you can't cheat yourself if you base your goals on heart rate!
of course there are days when you just have to take it a bit easier, but at least you know where you stand in terms of calorie burn.
it's easy to lie to yourself when you exercise (at least it is for me!) to convince yourself that you are working as hard as you can, and one glance down at the heart rate monitor can be a reality check!
it's really been incredible for me and it's really kept me from getting discouraged when I don't feel like working out, or wonder if my exercise is making a difference.. at the end of it I can see how hard I have been working and find a somewhat accurate calorie burn.
