Day 24 of 30 Day Challenge and Day 4 of

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

I am so happy to report that I am ANOTHER 0.6 of a pound DOWN this morning!
Yesterday I tested Chick peas to see how my body would tolerate them and although they did not cause weight gain, I did experience some gas. So I would say they are mildly reactive.
My DH is very happy at the healthy and TASTY meals he has been getting at dinner and for his lunch! I have not eaten so many veggies in a long time! I needed the proverbial Kick in the Butt to get myself inspired and interested in taking the time to cook again!

You know when you look at everything and say "I can't eat this, I can't eat that, I can't eat the next thing" and you get discouraged and think " why bother, I'll just have more coffee! "
Seriously , it happens.

What I learned on "The Plan" is that a good food for you may not be a " good food for me" and just because we have made these "Good food" and "Bad food" lists does not mean we all react the same way! I was shocked to read that MANY people have inflammatory reactions from SALMON! YEP! emoticon

I get to have coffee today! emoticon
But just one cup! Can't wait!

I know that when I get to the day when we test wheat what is going to happen, but it will be good to have it confirmed. AS Lyn-genet says, it's not about calories, it is about chemistry!

So simple and yet so elusive!

Thanks to LIS for encouraging me to try "The Plan", I am happy to have lost 3 pounds in total so far...and I am only on day 4!

The only downside is increased amount of dishes! LOL, I had to do 2 loads last night!
But it is good to be cooking again instead of just snacking here and there all the time.

AND I seem to be getting enough protein and so that is a plus!

The hardest thing to adjust to is not having tea or coffee or anything with meals! I knew that you should not drink with your meals, but didn't think it really mattered THAT MUCH!
But if I was going to do "The Plan" then I have to stick to their guidelines!

I will get used to it, I suppose! Give it time!

I wonder how you are doing on your Day 24 of your challenge?

only 5 days left!
Remember to be kind to yourself and fuel yourself right! What is right for YOU!

Well done with The Plan and the 3 pounds
I've completely stalled on weight but am happily chugging along with my low sodium, no white carbs, watching the protein and lots of water - not so easy now that the cold weather keeps making appearances. Loved it yesterday and today - still at 30C around lunchtime

I don't think I'll see the great results I saw last month (on the scale), but there are still some things to be happy about this month. I have been faced with some big-time stress and, although I've had a few sugar binges, there was nothing that lasted for days or turned me around, or made me want to stop doing what I'm doing. Nothing has made me feel like throwing my hands in the air in defeat. That's a win.

As of mid month, I was down inches, and I've been exercising this month much more than I did last month too. I'm just gonna keep going and hope that things balance out by the end of the month.

Whether we do another challenge or not, I'm going to keep going with replacing white carbs and sugar in my life. I want this to be my default setting. I want to live this way, with room for the occasional exception. I believe that these challenges have taught me that's not just a possibility, but a reality. I've changed my habits.

Gonna go get my exercise in now before bed.
Best to you all these last few days!!!

I MUST have fluids with my meals. I run the risk of choking without it! Like you said, not all rules are meant to be followed by ALL people!

Thanks for stopping by my Page! Always nice to see your face around :)

Your soup looks great. It's not my favorite soup - the cream of broccoli wins hands down!
The prep and cooking is a bit much in the beginning but it gets better and after a while anything but home cooked is just "meh". I can't wait for you to test more things and start using the recipes in the cookbook. Your pics will be awesome!
We had dinner at a friend's house last night, I brought a big salad and mango salsa, the other food was ribs, shrimp, broccoli (yeah!) and grilled sweet potato rounds. I was down 0.2 this morning (back to 134.8 below goal) - so I passed sweet potato and shrimp, which I thought I'd failed previously.
It was surprisingly easy to say no to the margaritas, the bread and and the very yummy looking cake - I had the piece of white chocolate from the top of DH's slice instead :)
The Plan is amazing!!

Really well! So far I've stuck to my plan. I had no refined carbs (thanks again for the info on Udad flour), no cola, only 1 (albeit a very large one) cup of black tea. I got some mild exercise in too. Did not get a real breakfast in by 10:00, just didn't feel like anything so I had a couple of lettuce leaves and a few black berries, but you'd hardly call it a real breakfast. Still feel like I'm coming down with something, but I seem to be managing to keep it at bay.

Had biroques last night (family tradition) which is a meat and veggie filled bun. You fry hamburger (ground by my dad, so lean you almost have to add oil - no kidding), cabbage, onion and then wrap in homemade whole wheat dough and bake, unfortunately you use quite a bit of oil in the pan when you bake so they won't stick, but it doesn't seem to get absorbed, and the meat was soooooo lean I think it counteracted each other. Added a big green salad on the side and yum.

Glad you're finding the plan a success! Keep us posted. CJ

Glad "the Plan" is working so well for you! You and Mandi (THERMSH) are having such success, that's awesome!

I logged just under 12,000 steps yesterday, a BIG accomplishment for me. So today's challenge is to see if I can reach at least 10,000 again. The challenging part is that it is raining, so this will have to be done indoors! Wish me luck! Although it's not about luck at all!

I hope everyone else is doing well. Not sure how my weight is doing...don't weigh in until Friday, but I'm sure the inches are coming off with my large increase in activity over the last week.

Have wonderful days everyone!!
Hugs,
Beth
