A lovely, warm day...

Tuesday, April 23, 2013

I had a good day today, despite missing another gym workout. I did get in a run, and a couple extra walks, and 30 minutes of ST. I didn't get to the gym because I had an appointment I had forgotten about. It was a beautiful day though, so I enjoyed my run. It was a little frustrating though. It was a slow run and I didn't have much stamina, so I ended up running intervals of 5 minutes, but I did cover 3 miles in 33 minutes so it wasn't a failure.

I read that there were 9 fire departments responding to yesterday's fire out by my parents' house. It was a trucking depot that burned, so there were a few explosions, and they were worried about toxic smoke, but no one was hurt. I always worry about the firemen when I hear about or see big fires.

So, Cooper ended up in his crate for four hours while I was out running and at my appointment, but my neighbor said he didn't bark at all, so he must not have gotten too bored. He has started pulling the stuffing out of his dog bed in his crate though. Now he is curled up on my bed snoozing. He is a happy puppy all in all. I got lucky when I adopted him. My mom really likes him too, and he is best buddies with my dad.

I am thinking I might make tomorrow a rest day. We are supposed to get thunderstorms, and I don't like going out in those. On the other hand I have been thinking about doing shorter runs outside, and if there is a break in the rain I might give it a try. I figure if I am going a shorter distance I might be able to push myself a little harder and run the entire thing. (Today's frustrating run might be due more to mental exhaustion from yesterday though.)

Even when you have to walk for a little bit, at least you're moving!

Maggie is really pretty good, but her new dog bed is a Berber fleece and it is piling all over from her claws. I vacuum like crazy, but 5 minutes alter there the fuzzies are again.

You did great! I love it when I can get a 10 or 11 minute mile! Congrats!

Hope you get some mini-runs in today. Rest and spend time with that good boy!

You might give Cooper the cardboard rolls out of the middle of paper towels and toilet paper to chew while you are running. Recycling! And it is free! My DD's sheltie loves these things. She shreds them pretty good!

Puppies do get into a few things, but doesn't sound like he's done too bad of damage. Sounds like you've been real lucky with him.

I'm hoping we get some sun again soon. We ended up with more rain, which is aggravating our flooding even further. I'm looking forward to getting better weather so I can get more of my walks outdoors instead of the treadmill.

As long as he's not pulling the stuffing out of YOUR bed, everything is golden. My sister's Yorkie tears up paper products: kleenex, napkins, paper towels. She has to make a mess. If you leave it where she made her "nest" everything is okay. If you clean up, she looks for something to tear up again, but always paper products. She even gets up on Mom's lap and steals a piece of kleenex out of her pocket. Then gets down and starts to tear it up. When my sister brings her over, her paper nest is in the doggie bed and it comes in with her. Goofy dog!!
