My Marathon+ Redux

I frequently spell out things I plan on doing in my posts because telling people about them in advance helps to lock me in. Today was different. I woke up and it was a beautiful day. On the spur of the moment I decided to re-run the route I did for the Strava Marathon Challenge on April 6th, just for fun. I already knew I could do it so no pressure. I left the house a little after ten A.M. and was back thirty miles and six-and-a-half hrs. later. Just like the first time I was able to do the marathon distance without stopping although twenty minutes slower. And just like the last time that gave me toe blisters so the balance was walk/slow run/walk to keep them from getting worse.

I'm glad I did it though. When I uploaded my Garmin to Strava, it knocked over a hundred places off my rank in the challenge. I guess you get credit for doing the marathon more than once. There are five days left. Out of the 3,665 entrants, 2,874 have completed the challenge. It certainly won't qualify me for Boston, but right now my rank is 38 overall.
