Busy busy today. Graded the last of a set of literature papers. Then I went outside. Too nice to sit in here grading. Measured and secured the drip tape for the northwest plot. Got each one 30" apart. Then I started planting. Seeded 12 double-rows (60') of broccoli raab, spicy greens, Red Russian kale for cutting, a "wild kale" bed, 4 kinds of spinach, radishes, beets, carrots, baby lettuces, and carrots.
Feels so good to accomplish a lot of work. Next will be transplanting lettuce heads, then getting the northeast plot ready for brassica transplants (cabbage family). Same deal -- drip tape, but also some fabric row cover for part of it, to help keep weeds down in this area where I leave the plants all season. I'm going to try some microclover under some of it, though, to see how it does for weed suppression, whether or not it competes too much with the plants OR whether the nitrogen it releases helps them a lot.
Not doing my regular running yet, but on days like this, I don't think I need it! Ate reasonably. That's my goal right now -- eating reasonably. Gotta start where you are.
