Lots of things going on lately. I'm in the process of finishing a paper that I'm giving at an academic conference next week, getting ready to defend my dissertation proposal in a few weeks, and trying to process all of the events of the past week in Boston.
I spent my childhood in New England. Both the Hus and I graduated from schools in Boston (college for him, masters degree for me). Though we no longer live in the Hub, it occupies a special place in many of our memories. Our most recent place in Boston was about a block from Beacon St, at mile 23 of the marathon, and we have many friends and colleagues that are still in the area. Father of the Hus was running in the marathon last Monday (he's fine). Watching everything go down last week was difficult to process.
Yet life goes on, and we are resilient. I have been back on the exercise bandwagon for the past few weeks (the warmer weather definitely helps with that) and tracking my nutrition as well. I'm happy to report that the new bike (for now, The Pink Lady) is wonderful, and we have been having a lot of fun together out on the trails. I'm doing my first charity ride of the season this Saturday, and hope that there are many more rides to come this spring and summer. One day at a time, y'all. That's all we have. Make it count.
