No chemo this week; grocery shopping today

Tuesday, April 23, 2013

My best friend took me to get some groceries this afternoon; since I don't have chemo this week, it was a good time for a "stock up" trip. With the fatigue and pain issues, I haven't been able to drive myself to the store. Most of the time my mom has been picking up a few things for me when she does her shopping. I don't like to have her have to spend a lot of extra time doing that though, so I only have her pick up the things I really need, not the "extras" that I want but can manage without, so today was a good day to get some of those things.

I wasn't really hurting too bad while shopping, but the pain flared up again almost as soon as I got home. I was thankful to have help carrying my bags in today, especially when I have 4 steps to climb to get to my door. I was tired when I got home too, but not as exhausted as I usually am after a shopping trip, so I think the transfusion I had last week is helping.

After I got the perishable items put away, I got into my pajamas and sat down for awhile. I will put the rest of the stuff away tomorrow. I also stocked up on some chicken and ground beef that were on sale; tomorrow I will package it up into smaller portions to put in the freezer. It will be better to do all that stuff after a night of good sleep.

It's raining pretty steadily right now. I'm glad it held off til later in the day; it was just starting to sprinkle at the time we got back to my house and got my groceries inside.

I think it will be an early bedtime tonight; looking forward to settling into my bed early, cuddling with the kitties and relaxing with my book.

Good thing that you got the transfusion. I know how hard it can be to accomplish everything you want to, but it's wonderful that you're willing to put in as much effort as your 'spoons' will allow. And it's great that you have people who are willing to help you out when you need them. (I'm glad the snow that's been hitting MN every few days isn't hitting you!)

Sounds like you got a lot done!! It's nice to get a little ahead with the groceries. Hopefully, the fatigue won't be back for awhile.
