A letter to me from my own body.

Tuesday, April 23, 2013

Dear Rachel:
Hi, I'm your body and I know you like fried food, bread, chocolate, cake, ice cream and candy but the amount you eat is really ruining me. I'm not asking you to stop eating them completely but you really need to cut back on it. Also, I really love it when you work out. My lungs may burn and my heart may race and my muscles will ache but sometimes we all must endure some pain to get stronger. We're never mad at you when you work out because we all want you to be healthy. When you're healthy we all work better and the only way to get healthy is to stop making excuses. The path you're on is killing us which means it's killing you. If you work out your eyes will see better, your mind will remember better, you won't have such a hard time paying attention. The lungs will grow and be stronger so you can breath easier and your heart won't have to work so hard to keep blood running through your veins. You say you want to get healthier and you're tired of being fat but you aren't doing anything about it! The only way for you to get healthy is to get off the computer and actually do something. Put your foot down things you'll eat. You say you listen to your body but you don't. If you did you would be working out more because that's what we tell you. We tell you to stop eating fried foods because the tummy doesn't really like it. Haven't you noticed that you get sick a lot more after you eat something fried and greasy? Why do you still eat it? And when you work out, don't worry about the lungs, they'll be okay. They actually don't mind that burn because they want you to be happy and healthy. They know that by enduring that burn of heavy breathing that they'll get stronger. And the heart doesn't mind if you push it either. The muscles want you to work through that burning pain they feel. It's the only way to get stronger and healthier. Eat healthier, please? Work out more, please? Listen to us, we're everything that makes up your body and we're crying for you to change. Stop ignoring us. Stop being so stupid and selfish. You say it's hard to give stuff up but you've done it before. You given up dark soda, now just give up sierra mist. You've giving up coffee and alcohol. You've given up McDonald, burger king, taco bell and more. Which is fine, we're happier without those. so why is it so hard to cut back on others?? Drink more water and eat more fruit and veggies. Cut that big juicy 'shroom and swiss burger in half... you know the one you get from that restaurant every Friday?? seriously, cut that in half and save the other half for the next day. Try eating only one helping of dinner instead of two... sit straighter because the back doesn't like it when you hunch over. And keep the tummy tight it helps support the back. Don't eat chocolate when ever you get that craving. You say it's hard but if you listen to this body you'll realize that it's all in the mind. You've trained it ask for things that doesn't go well with the rest of the body. Drink water and do something productive when ever a bad craving happens. Also, you've learned before that running eases the cramps you get when you're PMSing. Also if you can help us lose weight, your period won't be so bad. So please, help us help you. We really need to be a team about this.
Love: You're only body.

Yup..... I really need to start listening to my body more. I keep saying how I'm going to change and so on and so fourth. I get bored easily, my mind doesn't like to focus. I need to keep my brain on track.... and I need to work through the burn and not stop.
