I've finally gotten back in the groove of exercising again. The past month has been a great one for me and I've finally gotten in the habit of exercising! It feels so good to be exercising again!
It took alot of motivation, reading success stories, quotes, and ways to build healthy habits for me to get back on track. I've started to focus on the positive things in life and not dwell on the negative. This has helped me tremendously and instead of getting discouraged I keep on trying.
As soon as I get home from work, I change into my workout clothes, eat a small snack, and exercise. I used to come home, eat dinner, and watch TV. Now I exercise instead of watching TV right away. I really enjoy being able to walk and run outside in the nice cool weather. I brought my phone to listen to the radio, but it was actually more relaxing to listen to the birds and look at nature all around me. I've actually met several other people in my neighborhood who are walking too. After exercising, I feel energized, happier, confident, and more focused. I'm less likely to waste my time with meaningless activities (mostly TV and surfing the internet). I actually spend more time outside, and more time talking with friends and family. Its actually quite refreshing to take a break from technology and relax in nature.
I'm not looking forward to the dog days of summer, but I'm making the most of the nice weather while it lasts. I'm planning to join a gym in the next month, probably the YMCA since they have a pool, treadmill, and offer zumba, pilates, and yoga classes. It'll be nice to have a place to exercise when its raining, humid, or 100 degrees., since its no fun to be outside then.
Below are some of the quotes that inspire and motivate me.
"Remember, nothing changes if nothing changes"
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit." ~Aristotle
Whether you think you can or you think you can't...either way, you are right! ~Henry Ford
“People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.” - Zig Ziglar (this one always makes me laugh!)
