48 Flights of Stairs

Last weekend there was a charity event that involved climbing to the top of one of the downtown skyscrapers. It was 48 flights of stairs! There were adverts for it throughout the skyway system.

I knew I wasn't quite ready for that big of a challenge- just yet. I've been taking stairs daily and it has gotten much easier. I no longer worry abut calling 911 in the stairwell.

I have access to 16 floors within my stairwell. There are 19 floors all together but the layout gives me access to 16. 16 x 3=48. That's 3 laps, if you think of it like that. I can do one without dying. I want to build my strength so that I can do 48 flights of stairs without risk of cardiac arrest.

I just want to shout out some love and thanks to my spark friends! I don't always have time to catch up on everyone's blogs but I genuinely care about each and every one of you. Your kind and uplifting comments mean a great deal to me. Thank you.

Update: I did all 16 flights with 2 shorts rests on floor 7 and 12, did a set of 12 push ups on the stairs and then did 60 minutes on the elliptical. I feel amazing! If I can do it so can you. For those of you who don't know I had to learn to walk again 6 months ago. emoticon

I really want to participate in one of those climb competitions one of these days. Sounds fun if it isn't too crowded.

    Congratulations! You're doing so well, and you have a workable plan for getting those 48 flights under your feet. I can't wait to hear when you accomplish that milestone, too.

  Right now I'd be doing good to climb 48 STEPS, not 48 flights of steps. But it'd be something to work towards.
