Upcoming Surgery, At Least It Is Out-patient!

Monday, April 22, 2013

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

On Wednesday I will be having surgery on my left foot to remove arthritis and a bunion that is pressing against my foot. I've put off doing anything about it just because I didn't want to be bothered to have to re cooperate! However, it has gotten more painful to wear any kind of shoe so I think it's time.

My Doctor says it will take 2 months to completely recover but should be able to at least stand on it after the first 3 days. I guess I'm a little apprehensive as, thankfully, I've only had one other surgery so I'm not use to anesthesia so hopefully I won't have a reaction to it.

Thankfully, I have the prayers of my friends and family and I sure appreciate you all!

Will try to check in when I'm not so "out of it"!!!!!

Since I just got back here, I didn't know about this. I hope this surgery went well and you back in action now. I know it was scary for you due to the anesthesia. Last May I had heart surgery due to my atrial fibrillation. I was under anessthesia from 7:00 am - 5:30 pm. Whew! The surgery was a sucess but I'm glad it's in my past! LOL! emoticon

Wow, am I late on this, honey! Wondered why I haven't seen you on, but I guess I was just so wrapped up in my own woes, I didn't investigate.

I've been thru the bunion stuff. Had the kind of (at the time) new-fangled surgery where they just sawed off the bunion! Left my foot wide in front. Impossible to find dress shoes.

This time it was a lumpectomy with digging out some lymph nodes to biopsy. About a quarter of my right breast is gone.

My Susie says when I lose weight, if I don't have reconstruction, I will have to tuck my left one in my waist band!

Have a good meal at the restaurant. Don't feel guilty if you over-do a bit. We can make things up (if we, ahem, remember).

Hugs!!! emoticon We aren't ready for this yet!!

I hope your surgery went well. I have bunions, but have heard that surgery is not always a permanent solution. They don't bother me too much except that my second toe overlaps my big toe on one foot. Toe separators help.

You have my prayers too! But I have to tell you, about 4 years ago I had BOTH feet done at different times to have bunions removed...and basically I had both feet RE formed. I LOVE my feet now...the pain is so gone! I pray you have the same great results that I did! It was SO worth it! Hugs!

Praying for an uneventful surgery and a quick recovery, my friend! DH is moving right along with his new hip! He just has to strengthen his involved muscles and reteach them how to work and support him as he's really babied that hip for 2-3 years! I guess we really should take care of things sooner than later. I think you will do fine. The lack of arthritic pain may even lull you into thinking you can take on the world, but be a bit cautious and trust your health care professionals in your PT.
Healing vibes coming to you! emoticon emoticon

Prayers for a quick recovery and hugs to you. I have a bunion that is pretty big but so far I can still wear sneakers or really soft sided shoes. I'm hoping it never gets to the place it needs surgery but if it does one day I guess I'll get it done. But I understand why you put it off as long as possible. Wishing the best for you.

Big big prayers are winging your way. Surgery is no fun...but sometimes we must. Drink tons of green drinks to help you recover and take your Vit. C. My hubs is having terrible foot pain and really needs to get it taken care of as he can't do his walking (which he LOVES) and it makes him cranky..which I DON'T love! emoticon But I'm urging him to see a therapist that our D.O. recommended before he does anything beyond..they call him "the foot whisperer" isn't that cute...more importantly hope he can help!

Hugs to you and take it slow and easy I'll be praying for a safe and speedy recovery! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I know the feeling - put off my hip replacement for too many years, and when all was said and done, I wondered why I didn't do it sooner. No more pain, and you get your quality of life back again.
I think everything will go fine. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
