I know alot of people (like me at one point) wondered what Les Mills Pump was all about and if I would like it. So I thought I'd write my review and share my thoughts.
Workouts- Thus far (on week #2 right now) I've done Pump Challenge (20 minutes) and Pump and Burn (35 minutes). I can say I LOVE IT! I have been a Chalean Extremer since 2010 but I like Pump because you work all your major muscle groups with every workout and you definitely feel the workouts the next day. With both workouts you do squats, lunges, chest/triceps, back and abs (not in core challenge but pump comes with hard core abs). I wasn't sure if I like the barbell but I find it really easy to work with and they give you time in the video to change weights and they also scroll along the screen to tell you what weight may be appropriate for you based on beginners, intermediate and advanced. I'm not going to lie..most of the time I do beginners and I can feel it.
My body has been responding very well to the "rep effect" which is where you do 3-5 minutes of just one body part. Instead of other programs where you lift really heavy and only do somewhere b/n 8-12 reps.
The schedule is you do 3 of the strength training workouts a week. It starts with the easier pump challenge and progresses to pump revolution and pump extreme which are 55 minutes long.
Instructors- I really love the instructors. They are not real cheesy or gabby. They get to the point, are great at instructing through the whole song and give useful pointers. I like that they switch instructors with each track. The variety is nice.
Music- So far the music has been great. They pick songs that go with the reps so that is nice. There is variety to the music. One chest track is "word up" and one ab track is "save a horse ride a cowboy."
Cross training dvd's- With buying pump you have the option to buy 3 cross training cardio dvd's- 1. Step 2. Sports Attack and 3. Combat (before combat was it's own workut series). I did the combat workout which is different than the series as far as moves and music. I liked it very much and it's nice to have another one that is about 45 minutes. I did the step yesterday and it was awesome. Not real complicated but they give you an awesome workout!
If anyone has any other questions feel free to ask. But I definitely think it's worth the money. It is a great program and if you need a strength training change like I did it is the way to go!
