Surviving my hubbies heart attack......thankful he is home

Monday, April 22, 2013

Hi all,

Yeah, it has been a ride fer sure.

He had taken our boy for hockey practice, was foolin around with them...and it hit....he didnt fool around, thankfully...and went right to the ER.

Long story short, he had a 100% blockage of his right artery.

They did an balloon angioplasty put in one stent....

A couple of days in ICU, then a regular room for a day, and I brought him home yesterday.

He is feeling good, all things considering.....and actually feels better than before it happened...

Which, makes sense....so do alot of the signs we didnt see.....the tiredness... lethargy, etc...we thought it was just from working hard and late nights....but...not so.

This has been a blessing in disguise, in that, he is young, 40, there was no permanent damage....and he has been kicked into a reality check...much as many of us here had to have before getting on the healthy path.....

I am proud of him for 1. getting to the ER ASAP...and not playing mr macho..... 2. for listening and cooperating with all he was told......3. quitting smoking and 4. wanting to get healthy...

I love him more than life....

Glad to hear that he's feeling even better now than he was before the attack! Sometimes we need something big like that to put things into perspective for us and show us that we need to live a different way. I surely hope that everything works our for the both of you and that his path to health is a fast one!

Glad he went to the E.R. right away. So many men wait to long before doing anything, that they have permanent damage to their heart and valves. Sending Gods blessings and well wishes to a speedy recovery. emoticon

OMG, so young, but a very smart man in taking no chances. So glad to hear that he is doing well, and no permanent damage. God has more for him to do on this earth.

I'm rooting for him on the "no smoking". I'm 30 + years of not smoking. He can do it, he has so much to live for. emoticon emoticon

I'm so glad he is okay. I'm even happier he wasn't playing Mr. Macho! My DH did when he was having his and I forced him to the ER. He had a bypass, his attack was called the Widow Maker and only by the Grace of God he survived it! HUGS!

So glad everything is ok now. I've got diabetes and high blood pressure on both sides of my family and still I play with fire. Thanks for the refocus and for the good news.

So happy to here he is ok and no permanent damage is WONDERFUL! I will be rooting for him on the smoking. I'm 7 years smoke free. The first three months are tough, then is gets easier all the time.

Take advantage of this time when the "reality" is still raw. It can be a HUGE motivator! Sometimes after something like that happens - we say we will make changes - but then we forget and get back into old ways. If you can - start making changes now before that happens.

So glad to hear he is doing better - take care of yourself too!
