Day 7 of 17 Day Diet

Short summary of my dieting life:

-cut calories, balanced carbs/proteins/fat, became active, lost 50 lbs
-to bust out of a plateau, did drastic diet eliminating everything but lean meat, certain veggies and fruit, got to goal weight
-maintained pretty good for about 8-10 months, then slowly started reverting to some old bad habits, mainly indulging in waaay too many sugary foods, and eating junky carbs even though they make me feel like CRAP.
-18 months after reaching goal weight, found myself UP 16-17 lbs.

**Enter the 17 Day Diet: Unlimited lean protein, veggies and 2 fruits daily, plus various probiotic foods (greek yogurt, cottage cheese, etc) and eggs**

Days 1-4: I started on a Tuesday, so during the week it's really easy for me to stay on track and not have much time to think about food. Friday night was tough on account of going to my friends to watch a movie and eating.....carrots. Yup. Nothing rocks my Friday night like carrots. lol.

Day 5: Oy. Super tired, super spacey, messed up HALF of the songs in my zumba class. I finally said "Look guys, it's Day 5 here of no sugar, and I think it's gone to my brain." lol.

Day 6: Finally started to feel better. I had ample energy, was not thinking about food all day long, didn't feel hungry, and had the energy to clean house for 4 (!) hours.

Day 7: Still feeling pretty good, considering it's Monday, and I teach 5:30 a.m. zumba before a 9.5 hour work day begins. Lunch is in an hour, and I'm doing pretty good.

I did NOT weigh myself when I first started, but I had a really bad eating weekend right before, and just from past experience expect my weight was between 161-162. As of this morning, it was 157.8 (i did hit 157 FLAT yesterday but think maybe stupid hormones are playing a part in that little gain). So I'm basically down 4lbs so far. If I could lose 10 more, I would be back at goal, and content. Really I feel OK now, but the pants I'm wearing to work are a teeny bit snug, so a little more breathing room would be welcome.

What I am always kicking myself over is how much BETTER I feel when I truly knock grains out (none of this Mon-Fri abstinence then cheating on the weekends business I'm so good at). My midsection looks & feels normal, no jiggly bloating. My knees feel great. My hip feels great. Today, I feel energetic, and for the first time in a VERY long time, I slept pretty darn good last night. In fact, I have been sleeping very good for the past 4 nights. Sundays in particular are bad for me. I think I'm just typically so wound up from the weekend, plus my HBO/Showtime Sunday night TV is always swirling in my brain long after the credits have rolled, and I'm anxious that I will oversleep for class (never have before) that i get very poor sleep.

So I feel good. Food choices are B-O-R-I-N-G but in another 10 days I can start adding in more variety.

    I've seen the book in stores and have been curious about it. Sounds like this is really working for you. And from what you describe it is a healthy diet. Congratulations on the weight loss!
