A Tale of Two Birthday Parties (Pics)

My amazing nephew turns 8 years old today! We had a lunch party for him yesterday at a sushi restaurant. I decided to go back and compare my nutrition at his birthday party this year to my nutrition at his birthday party LAST YEAR.

LAST YEAR

I skipped breakfast and ate way too much at the party, rationalizing that his birthday comes but once a year. Then I skipped dinner! Even with the skipped meals, I was way over my limit. Here's how it looked:

Whole-Wheat Crackers, 10 cracker
Champagne, Brut, Andre, 12 oz
Vanilla Ice Cream (ice cream), 0.5 cup (4 fl oz)
Cake, chocolate, with chocolate frosting, 1 piece
Ginger Cocktail, 2 serving
Buckwheat Tabbouleh, 1 serving
Snack TOTALS: 2,151

TOTAL CALORIES: 2,151

THIS YEAR

This year, I started the day off with a healthy breakfast.



Sure, I enjoyed myself at the party but didn't get too crazy. Then, a healthy dinner! The day looked like this:

Breakfast
Delallo roasted piquillo peppers n water 2 pieces, 1 serving
Zucchini, 0.5 cup, sliced
Olive Oil, 1 tbsp
Mushrooms, cooked, 0.5 cup pieces
Egg, fresh, whole, raw, 2 large

Lunch
California Roll Sushi 12 pieces, 1 serving
Salmon Sushi 16 pieces, 1 serving
Japanese Seaweed Salad, 2 oz
Sake, 1 fl oz
Chocolate tart, 1 serving

Dinner
Atlantic Salmon (fish), 3 oz
Classic Romaine (lettuce,carrots,red cabbage, romaine), 1 cup
Oil and Vinegar Salad Dressing, 1 tbsp
Carrots - Baby Carrots Carrot Company, 15 gram(s)
Baby Beets - Trader Joes (2 beets), 1 serving
Dinner TOTALS: 281

TOTAL CALORIES: 1,511

I managed to enjoy myself, stay on track and celebrate the birthday boy in style!
