Mom's 88th birthday & Kitchen
Monday, April 22, 2013
My family is blessed that we celebrated my mom's 88th birthday on Sunday. She had a stroke when she was 80. Thankfully the only issue after the stroke her left hand is weak. With her medication she is doing well. She loves to work in her garden, she enjoys going shopping and eating out with the family. She loves to tell her stories about growing up in Texas and picking cotton. She was the fastest and best cotton picker from her brother and sisters. She said when she was born she was so white they called her "white mouse". My mom has straight hair and tells of stories about getting a perm but they never lasted. I remember my mom always dressing very nice and she still enjoys dressing up for church especially during Easter when she can wear a nice hat.
This year I was able to redo my kitchen and I am so happy - it looks so different. I forgot to take the before pictures but have posted my new kitchen.
I can't believe it has been a year that I have retired and I have been enjoying my retirement. I recently was elected on our Homeowners Association Board of Directors and that has been keeping me busy. I have been writing letters, negotiating with our trash company to get a better deal which I did - $600 less a month. We are very happy about that.
I hope everybody has a great week.
